WHAT TREATMENT DO WE OFFER FOR CHIN & JAWLINES?
Jaw enhancement injections are a fast, non-surgical way to enhance the look of your jawline and jowls. If you feel that your jawline is asymmetrical, lacks definition, or has begun to sag due to ageing or weight loss, you may want to consider this treatment.
When it comes to the jawline, a youthful appearance is all about shape. While a young face typically has one smooth contour from the ear to the chin, an ageing one often sags at the bottom of the cheeks. These areas of sagginess are called the jowls.
Our jowls become more prominent as we get older because of natural changes in our facial soft tissue, which becomes lax and deflated over time. In our cheeks, this tissue begins to “fall” down around our jawline, spurring the development of jowls.
Luckily, there are non-surgical treatments that can lift sagging jowls and rejuvenate your appearance. We have developed a unique and effective approach to these treatments and have helped hundreds of patients get rid of their jowls.
WHAT DO CHIN AND JAW FILLERS CONTAIN AND WHAT DO THE CONSULTANT CLINIC USE IN THEIR PRACTICE?
Most fillers (and certainly those we use) are based on hyaluronic acid (HA), which is the body’s own natural skin plumper and so has an almost impossible risk of an allergic reaction. Thinner or less dense fillers are used for surface areas like lips and crow’s feet, and thicker ones are injected deeper into plump cheeks. Most of the CHIN fillers we use are FULLY REVERSIBLE from the time they are administered, until the time they are reabsorbed. So even in the unlikely event, you didn’t like the results, we can reverse them in seconds.
Far too many patients focus on the brand of the product itself. So long as the practitioner is using one of the top 5 brands of dermal fillers (and it goes without saying we do!), there is little difference. The results are almost entirely based on the skill of the craftsman and not the tool, so to speak. To concentrate on the filler itself, would be akin to asking Picasso which paintbrushes he used to produce his paintings and attempting the same with the identical brand, and expecting the same results based on this. We use Perfectha, Aliaxin and Galderma Fillers on all of our patients, and we pick the one we feel will suit you best as an individual.
WILL IT HURT?
The discomfort is pretty minimal. We mix local anaesthetic into each filler injection so you feel little to no discomfort. We don’t use a topical numbing cream because it doesn’t reach into the body of the lip where we typically inject and is therefore ineffective. The numbing cream also takes 40 minutes to start working, and most people don’t want to have to turn up to an appointment 40 minutes before their procedure in any event – especially when it doesn’t really work. The full anaesthetic we use also contains adrenalin, and thus also helps to prevent bruising by causing the blood vessels to constrict and reduce in size.
Remember, it’s not in our interests to have patients writhing around in pain – ethical reasons aside, because it makes our job incredibly difficult, and we want you to come back!! Nearly everyone we see for this procedure, says afterwards that they’re surprised at how remarkably pain-free it was. Even if you’ve had fillers before with another clinic, and it hurt – The Consultant Clinic are very different and perform unique techniques, so please bear that in mind. We’re experts with needles, and incredibly gentle and experienced. We make sure we tick every box to make the experience as pleasant as possible for you.
IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?
Chin filler injections can often make the chin slightly puffy for a day or two and a little pink for an hour or so, but properly administered fillers shouldn’t cause the same tell-tale swelling in other areas of the face. Our audit shows only 1 in 80 of our patients bruise, and there are also steps you can take to minimise this, although no practitioner can guarantee against such. Most people swell a little more the morning following treatment, but it quickly subsides and the vast majority of patients report puffiness only for about 24-48 hours. How you react to the injections is often down to the individual. If you are prone to bruising, it would logically follow that your chances of doing so after this procedure, are elevated.
